Mangalayatan University – Generated Awareness on Hypertension, through Street Play

School of Pharmacy, Mangalayatan University, Aligarh- took out a public awareness rally, to make citizens aware of Hypertension and how to prevent it, by means of a street play, on Tuesday. The day was celebrated with students holding out posters and big banners, for the villagers, highlighting the adverse effects of Hypertension and how avoiding it was the best case scenario. The mega rally was inaugurated and flagged of by, Vice Chancellor, Prof. KVSM Krishna.

Registrar Brigadier Samarveer Singh, Joint Registrar Dr. Dinesh Sharma, Prof. Ullas GUrdas, Principal, DOP etc were also present at the event. After this, the students marched ahead to Village Mohkampur, with their slogans and banners held high. Students from the village, Aarti, Bhavya, Saloni, Sweety, Ranjana, Smriti, all girl students from the village helped in organizing and executing the play.

The message that the children wanted to give through their street play was that, eating more high-salted foods and fast foods, and not eating appropriate amounts of fruits and vegetables, not exercising regularly, were also reasons for high blood pressure. Also, consuming alcohol, and excessively consuming cold-drinks and coffee were also major contributors to the condition.

In addition, students, Yogesh Kumar, Hemendra Kumar, Durvesh also checked the blood pressure of the village people. The initiative of the students was highly appreciated by the villagers. Director of Pharmacy, Prof. RK Sharma, said that, Heart Disease, also caused by high blood pressure, was one of the leading causes of premature deaths across the globe. He further said that this could be avoided by just being aware.

During the rally, a poster competition was also held. Yadvendra Singh and Neha Singh, Rahul Singh, Jyoti Singh, Sunil Kumar, Akash Upadhyay, Rajkumar, Satendra Kumar’s, the co-ordinators of the program made it successful. Prof. Devendra Singh, expressed his gratitude to all. Former President, Madan Singh, former head, Bablu Singh was also present on this day.
